BSN Requires Bidders to Manufacture Equipment in India

Indian BSN (Bharat Sanchar Nigam) is opening an US$3 billion tender for 40 million GSM lines. However, BSN has asked bidding equipment makers to manufacture equipment in India either directly or through Indian contract manufacturers. The Indian government expects to attract at least US$800 million of foreign investment in telecom manufacturing by March 2006.
